You spend hours each day entering food into a calorie tracking app, and think incessantly about your next meal. At the grocery store, you only allow yourself to purchase the “healthiest” foods, and ignore what your body is truly craving. And yet, at the end of the day, you’re still riddled with guilt and shame.

In preparation for your birthday celebrations, you check online menus to find a place that offers something you “can” eat. You plan your physical activity in the days leading up to the event so you can have a slice of your birthday cake. And yet, at the end of the day, you’re still riddled with guilt and shame.

You’ve finished dinner, but you’re still hungry, and all you can think about is your roommate’s box of cookies in the pantry. You decide to “sneak” just one, but before you know it, you’ve finished them off and have moved on to the leftovers in the fridge. As you go back to your room, tearful and embarrassed, you’re riddled with guilt and shame, and swear to be “better” tomorrow.

I know this cycle all too well and understand the ways in which our relationship with food can impact mental health. As your therapist, I will be your partner in this transformative and healing journey to find peace with food and with your body.

The Path to Intuitive Eating

Intuitive Eating is an anti-diet, Health At Every Size (HAES)-aligned approach that helps folks break the diet cycle, and find freedom with food. As a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor, I am passionate about helping folks feel at peace in their relationship with food and with their body. I believe that people are so much more than the body they live in, and I am dedicated to helping individuals get back in touch with their sense of self-worth.

Our sessions will incorporate the principles of intuitive eating to explore how your relationship to food and thoughts about your body developed, and together, we will work to silence the narrative that your worth is attached to your physical being.
